I have a domain registered. I am creating a website which requires a lot of space say about 1GB to 3GB. To use web space provided by Web Hosting companies I found is very costly for such huge amount of data. So is it possible to use my personal computer space as a web space for my website. I am having Windows XP and Windows 2000 Professional as Operating Systems. I am using Java, JSP, Servlets, MySQL in this website.
Can I use my personal computer space as a web space for my website?
There shouldn%26#039;t be a problem so long as u have a static IP and a web server application like IIS, apache and so on. Since you%26#039;re using java, JSP, you can try apache tomcat. Oh and if you don%26#039;t have a static IP you can go to places like no-ip.com where you can have an url pointed to your IP and the information gets updated thru a software on your computer, so others can access your site thru yourname.no-ip.com. maybe you can point your domain to this url too.

Try Apache server and you could host website on your computer.
But if you create website and if you like to run your website 24/7 from your computer, you will have to switch on your computer all the time and it may damage your computer in the long run.
If you intend to create a few websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website), go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.
Visit Following webhosting , they are quite good.
