Build Web Storefront from scratch or buy a package?

I%26#039;m taking the leap to my own domain name and adding a shopping cart and payment gateway. I%26#039;ve just started researching. Anyone with experience who can help me decide whether to get a bundled solution or get domain name registration, web hosting, shopping cart, and gateway separately? Do any of these offer an SSL certificate, or does that only come with the bundles?

Definitely get these separately... since some of the best eCommerce solutions are completely free, open-source projects (ZenCart, Drupal%26#039;s eCommerce Package) and most web hosts offer the Fantastico auto-install utility so you can have a program installed and the database created and configured with just a few mouse clicks.

Then, if you need some additional customization of one of these, and you prefer to avoid the hands-on approach, just search for a programmer/designer with knowledge of these products on Rent-a-Coder (posting a project there is free)

I would suggest buying one that is highly customizable. If you go with Yahoo merchant solutions they have a great storefront option that%26#039;s pretty easy to use. Starting from scratch can be done also, but why go through the hassle when you can purchase a package and not deal with the headaches. Hope this helps.
